The Next Time Around - Little Joy
I love music that sounds like it came straight from another decade. It’s the vintage sound that gets me, it’s outdated style and nostalgic rhythms just wraps me up in an illusion of being present in a different time. Little Joy with their strumming ukuleles, smooth Brazilian Bossa Nova style vocals, and vintage 1950’s ballad sensibilities makes their music a complete blast from the past. It is just sweet and sincere, evoking feelings of bliss and tranquility. I just feel happy listening to these oh so sweet rhythms. It’s simplicity is what makes it worthwhile, this isn’t an over-produced record or an elaborate and overly ambitious musical project, Little Joy’s music is just straight-forward and simple. I must say drummer Fabrizio Moretti from The Stokes, singer Rodrigo Amarante from Los Hermanos, and Bikini Shapiro, all who make up the band Little Joy, got the name of the band right. Little Joy’s music does inspire a little joy in us.
